Good morning everybody!
Last Tuesday, we started to study daily life in Renaissance cities, where we could appreciate that they were very similar to medieval cities and towns.
Today, we are going to study other aspects such as their houses or food.
The homes of wealthy citizens usually had three floors. On the ground floor, there was a coyrtyard, a laundry and storerooms.
Last Tuesday, we started to study daily life in Renaissance cities, where we could appreciate that they were very similar to medieval cities and towns.

The homes of wealthy citizens usually had three floors. On the ground floor, there was a coyrtyard, a laundry and storerooms.
The sala, the biggest room in the house, was on the first floor. It had a lot of light and was used as a reception room, a dinning room and a place for the family to get together in their leisure time. For example, they used to listen to music, dance, chat to friends or play games.
There was not much furniture in the room and the tables were usually covered with emboridered linen tablecloths. There were paintings on the walls.
The main room in the house was the master bedroom, which main piece of furniture was the big four-poster bed, which had a canopy. There were large chests, decorated with paintings where they kept things such as clothes and bed linen. In many houses, the bedroom walls were covered with panels painted.
Another important room was the study. It was a small room with desks, chairs, shelves and lecterns for books. This was where the family read and wrote. It was also the place where official papelers and documents were kept.
The kitchen was normally on the second floor. The main feauture in the kitchen was the hearth with a big fireplace, where food was cooked. It was common to eat meat and salad.
In order to increase your curiosity, I lend you this video about daily life in Renaissance and which aspects we could find nowadays that come from this period time:
